Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us on 0433 633 777 — you'll speak to a technician, not a call centre.
What does a maintenance plan cost?
Plans are priced on system size and visit frequency. A small site with an alarm and four cameras on twice-yearly servicing is a few hundred dollars a year; a multi-building site with access control and 30 cameras on quarterly visits is naturally more. In almost every case the plan costs less over a year than the emergency call-outs it prevents.
How often should a security system be serviced?
Twice a year suits most commercial sites. Quarterly is appropriate for high-risk, high-traffic or compliance-driven sites — supermarkets, healthcare, childcare and anywhere insurance requires documented testing. Dusty industrial environments need cameras cleaned more often than an office does.
What is actually checked during a service?
Access control: inspections, software updates and hardware functionality testing. Alarms: full diagnostics on sensor performance, power supply stability and alarm signal reliability. CCTV: camera calibration, lens cleaning, recording verification, storage checks and hard-drive life. Intercoms: sound clarity, response times and network connections. Data: cabling infrastructure, network and system health checks.
Will you service a system you did not install?
Yes, on most major platforms. We start with an audit so both of us know what is actually there and what condition it is in, then quote a plan. Occasionally we find a system that is not worth maintaining, and we will say so rather than take the money.
Do I get priority response as a plan customer?
Yes. Contracted clients get priority booking, discounted labour rates and emergency attendance for critical faults — such as a failed alarm on a monitored site or a total CCTV outage.
What reporting do I get?
A detailed maintenance report after every visit: what was tested, what was found, what was corrected, what needs attention and photos of the work. Insurers, auditors and owners corporations all ask for this and most businesses cannot produce it.
Why do hard drives matter so much?
Because surveillance drives write continuously and fail without warning. When a recorder drive dies, you often do not know until you go looking for footage that no longer exists. We check drive health and remaining life at every service — it is the single most common silent failure we find.
Can maintenance be bundled with monitoring?
Yes, and it is the sensible combination. Monitoring watches for events; maintenance proves the system that generates those events still works. Bundled together they are usually cheaper than buying each separately.
