What does a video intercom cost?
A single door station with one internal monitor is typically $1,200 to $2,400 installed. Multi-unit apartment systems are priced per unit and door station — expect a lower per-apartment cost as the building gets larger. Existing cabling can often be reused, which changes the number significantly.
Can I answer the intercom on my phone?
Yes, on IP systems from Aiphone, Comelit, Akuvox and Hikvision. You can see the visitor, talk to them and release the door from anywhere with a data connection — genuinely useful for sites where reception is not always staffed.
Can you replace an old apartment intercom without rewiring?
Often. Several modern systems run over existing two-wire cabling, which avoids the expensive and disruptive part of an apartment upgrade. We check what is in the risers during the site assessment before quoting. More on our apartment intercom page.
Do intercoms integrate with access control?
They should. A properly integrated intercom releases the door through the access control system, so the entry is logged like any other event rather than being an unmonitored exception. That is how we install them — see access control.
Can one intercom serve multiple buildings or entries?
Yes. Multiple door stations, gate stations and internal monitors can share one system, with call routing that decides which handsets ring for which entry. Warehouses with a front office and a rear dock are a common example.

Can intercoms include facial or fingerprint recognition?
Yes — several door stations now offer facial and fingerprint recognition alongside the traditional call button, which lets residents or staff enter without a fob while visitors still use the intercom normally.
Can you fix an intercom that no longer works?
Usually. Common failures are power supplies, door release hardware, water ingress on external stations and failed handsets. We diagnose and repair rather than defaulting to a full replacement quote.
