Fibre done properly

Links that are tested, not assumed

Fibre is unforgiving of a rushed job. A poor splice, a tight bend in a riser or a dirty connector will pass a quick link light check and then drop packets for years. That is why every fibre link we install is spliced with the right equipment, tested against its loss budget and handed over with the results.

We install fibre as backbone between floors and buildings, as long runs out to camera poles and gatehouses, and as the uplinks in comms rooms — and we design it alongside the copper and switching so the whole network makes sense.

  • Single-mode (OS2) and multimode (OM3/OM4) fibre
  • Fusion splicing and pigtail termination
  • Insertion loss and OTDR testing on every link
  • Building-to-building and campus backbones
  • Fibre to CCTV poles, gates and remote buildings
  • Fault finding, repair and re-termination
  • Patch panels, trays and tidy rack management
  • Written test reports and link documentation

Backbone installation

Riser and building-to-building fibre sized for today with spare cores for tomorrow.

Fusion splicing

Low-loss splices and pigtails in properly managed splice trays and enclosures.

OTDR & loss testing

Certification of every link with a written report and a baseline for future faults.

Fault finding & repair

Locate breaks, bad splices and contaminated connectors, then repair them.

Security over fibre

Fibre to camera poles, gatehouses and remote buildings with hardened switching.

Racks & patching

Fibre patch panels, trays and labelling so the comms room stays workable.

Melbourne fibre installers

Fibre installation and testing across Melbourne

We install and test optical fibre for warehouses, offices, retail centres, apartment buildings and industrial sites across metropolitan Melbourne, including Dandenong, Keysborough, Clayton and Docklands.

Fibre is usually part of a bigger job — a warehouse CCTV system with poles at the far end of the yard, or an office network spread over several floors. Doing the fibre, copper, switching and security as one team means the whole thing is designed once and documented once.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us on 0433 633 777 — you'll speak to a technician, not a call centre.

When do I need fibre instead of copper?

When a link runs further than about 90 metres, joins two buildings, passes through an electrically noisy environment, or needs more bandwidth than copper will carry over the distance. Fibre also does not carry a surge between buildings, which protects equipment at both ends. Inside a floor, Cat6 cabling is usually still the right answer.

Single-mode or multimode — which should I use?

Multimode (OM3/OM4) suits shorter runs inside a building or campus. Single-mode (OS2) suits long runs, building-to-building links and anywhere you want headroom for future speeds. Single-mode optics have become cheap enough that we often recommend it for new backbones. We specify per link and explain why.

What testing do you do?

Every link is tested end to end. We measure insertion loss against the budget for that link, and use an OTDR to show where every splice, connector and bend sits and what each one costs in signal. You receive the results as a written report, so a later fault can be compared against a known-good baseline.

Can you test or repair fibre someone else installed?

Yes. We test existing links, locate breaks, bad splices and dirty or damaged connectors, and repair or re-terminate them. Many "network faults" we attend turn out to be a contaminated connector or a fibre crushed in a cable tray.

Can fibre run my CCTV and access control?

Yes — it is one of the most common reasons we install it. Camera poles in car parks, gatehouses, remote sheds and boom gates are often too far from the comms room for copper. A fibre link with a hardened switch at the far end carries cameras, readers and intercoms reliably. See CCTV installation.

Do you provide documentation?

Always. Test results, link labels, patch panel schedules and a diagram of where each fibre runs. It is part of the same network documentation we provide on every data cabling job.
