One credential, every door in the building
Resident and visitor access control, video intercoms, lift and garage control, CCTV and reliable network infrastructure across the entire complex.
- 01 Resident & visitor access Fobs or mobile credentials for residents, cancelled in seconds when someone moves out.
- 02 Video intercom Door station at the entry, answered on a wall monitor or a phone anywhere.
- 03 Lift & garage control Floor-level lift restriction, roller doors and storage cages on the same system.
- 04 Common area CCTV Lobby, lift, car park, bin room and mail area — documented fields of view.
- 05 Building network The cabling and switching every one of the above quietly depends on.
Retrofit
Test the riser before anyone quotes the rebuild
The first question in any apartment upgrade is whether the cable already in the walls can carry the new system. Most quotes skip it, assume the worst and price a full re-cable — which is where a $15,000 job becomes a $60,000 one.
Plenty of Melbourne buildings from the eighties and nineties have two-wire or coaxial risers that will happily run a modern video intercom. We test what is there first and tell you which of the two situations you are actually in, before the committee sees a number.

Occupied buildings
Nobody locked out, nothing left open overnight
Work in a residential building is judged by how little residents notice. The old intercom keeps answering until the new one is commissioned. Entry doors are never left unsecured at the end of a day. Lift and car park works are booked with the building manager, not sprung on people.
Owners corporations get the paperwork they need to approve it in the first place — written scope, itemised pricing, datasheets and a certificate of currency — and we will front a committee meeting to answer questions if that moves it along.
- Staged changeoverThe existing system stays live until the new one is signed off.
- Written resident noticeAnything affecting access is communicated before the day.
- OC-ready documentationScope, pricing and datasheets in a form a committee can vote on.
- Manager trainedWhoever issues and cancels fobs is shown how, and left instructions.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us on 0433 633 777 — you'll speak to a technician, not a call centre.
What does it cost to upgrade an apartment building's security?
A small block of 8 to 20 apartments replacing an intercom and adding common-area CCTV generally runs $12,000 to $30,000. A tower with lift control, multiple car park levels and a concierge position is quoted individually. Owners corporations get a line-by-line schedule so the committee can compare it properly and stage the work across budgets if it needs to.
Do we have to re-cable the whole building?
Usually not. Two-wire and coaxial risers in older buildings can often carry a modern video intercom, which removes the single biggest cost in a retrofit. We test the existing riser before quoting rather than assuming, because that one measurement is the difference between a $15,000 job and a $60,000 one.
How do residents let visitors in?
A video door station at the entry calls the apartment, and the resident can answer on a wall monitor, their phone, or both. Phone answering matters more than people expect — it is what stops deliveries being left in the lobby when nobody is home. See apartment intercom systems for the detail on handsets, door stations and retrofits.
Can we control the lift and the car park too?
Yes, and in a residential tower you should. Lift control limits each credential to the floors that resident is entitled to, and car park control puts the roller door and any storage cages on the same system. One fob, one audit trail, and one thing to cancel when someone moves out.
What happens when a resident loses a fob or moves out?
The building manager cancels it in the system in seconds and issues a new one. That is the whole argument for electronic access over keys: a lost key means rekeying the building, a lost fob means one click. We train the manager or committee member who will be doing it and leave written instructions behind.
Where can CCTV legally go in an apartment building?
Common property — lobbies, lifts, car parks, bin rooms, mail areas and entries. Not anywhere that captures inside a private lot or through a window. We document the camera positions and fields of view so the owners corporation has something concrete to show residents, which heads off most of the objections before they start.
How do you work around an occupied building?
In stages, with notice. Entry doors are never left unsecured overnight, the old intercom keeps working until the new one is commissioned, and works in lifts and car parks are booked with the building manager. Residents get written notice of anything that affects their access before the day it happens.
Can you help with the owners corporation approval?
Yes. We supply a written scope, itemised pricing, product datasheets and a certificate of currency in a form a committee can put to a vote, and we are happy to attend a meeting to answer questions. Most of the delay in building work is approvals, not installation, so we prepare for it rather than waiting to be asked.
