Beyond basic cabling
Networks built for performance, security and growth
At Nootz we go beyond basic installations. We deliver fully engineered network solutions combining structured cabling, Ubiquiti hardware, architecture audits and detailed system documentation — giving your business complete visibility, control and long-term reliability.
It is also the foundation everything else sits on. CCTV, access control and intercoms all run over this infrastructure, and a system is only ever as reliable as the network beneath it.
- Structured data cabling (Cat6 / fibre)
- Switch and rack installation
- WiFi design and access point placement
- Ubiquiti specialists with real-world deployment experience
- Advanced network architecture audits and optimisation
- Detailed network documentation (rare in this industry)
- Integration with CCTV, access control and intercoms
- Ongoing management plans available

Our differentiator
Network topology and mapping
One of our key differentiators is professional documentation of network topology and connections — helping with troubleshooting, upgrades and management. We create clear, detailed charts that provide a full blueprint of your network.
What our network diagrams include:
- All network devices — switches, routers and firewalls
- Switch names, models and locations
- Port-to-port connections between switches
- VLAN structure and segmentation
- IP addressing and network configuration
- Physical cable pathways and connections
- Rack layouts and equipment positioning
- Patch panel and cable labelling
- Network interconnectivity overview
Ask your current provider for this. If they cannot produce it, nobody actually knows how your network is built — which is a problem you only discover during an outage.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us on 0433 633 777 — you'll speak to a technician, not a call centre.
What does a data point cost to install?
Additional points in an existing building typically run $180 to $350 each depending on cable route difficulty and distance, with the price dropping as the quantity rises. A new rack, patch panel and switch is quoted separately. Fibre backbone links between buildings are scoped individually.
Cat6, Cat6A or fibre — what do I need?
Cat6 handles gigabit comfortably and is right for most offices. Cat6A is worth it for 10-gigabit links and long high-density runs. Fibre is for backbone links between buildings or floors, distances beyond 90 metres, and anywhere electrical interference is a problem. We specify per run rather than blanket-upgrading everything — see optical fibre installation and testing.
Why do you specialise in Ubiquiti?
UniFi gives commercial-grade routing, switching and Wi-Fi with a management interface that a business can actually operate, at a price that is not enterprise-absurd. We have real deployment experience across many Melbourne sites, including networks carrying CCTV and access control traffic alongside business data.
What is network documentation and why does it matter?
A clear map of your network — every device, switch name and model, port-to-port connections, VLAN structure, IP addressing, cable pathways, rack layouts and patch panel labelling. The day something breaks, or you change IT providers, it turns a day of guessing into ten minutes of reading. Almost nobody supplies it. We do it as standard.
Can you fix Wi-Fi dead spots?
Yes, and usually not by adding more access points. Most poor Wi-Fi is caused by wrong AP placement, channel overlap, mismatched power settings or running everything through one flat network. We audit first, then fix the cause.
Do you work with our existing IT provider?
Regularly. We handle the physical layer — cabling, racks, switching, Wi-Fi and documentation — and hand over clean, labelled infrastructure with diagrams your IT provider will genuinely appreciate. No territorial nonsense.
Can the same network carry CCTV and access control?
Yes, with proper VLAN segmentation and PoE budgeting — which is exactly why having one team do both matters. Security devices on an unsegmented business network is one of the most common risks we find during audits.
Do you do cabling for new fitouts?
Yes. We work with builders and fitout contractors across Melbourne, coordinate with the electrical trade, and get cabling in at the right stage so it is concealed rather than surface-mounted after the fact.
