Common access control faults

What we get called out for

Doors not locking

Mag locks losing hold, strikes out of alignment, closers that stop the door latching, failed door contacts.

Doors not unlocking

Dead power supplies, flat batteries, failed relays and request-to-exit buttons that no longer trigger.

Card reader faults

Readers offline, valid cards rejected, intermittent reads and readers damaged by weather or vandalism.

Controller & expander faults

Lost communications, corrupted databases, failed modules and firmware problems after updates.

Network & software issues

Controllers dropping off the network, server and client software faults, licence and database problems.

No admin access

Installer gone, no passwords, no documentation — access recovered and handed back to you.

How a service call works

From fault logged to door working

Access control controller board wiring being fault-found

Log the fault

Call 0433 633 777 or send the form. Tell us the site, the system and what it is doing — photos of error screens help.

Triage & book

A technician, not a call centre, reviews it and books attendance — same or next business day for most Melbourne commercial faults.

Fault-find on site

Power, cabling, network, storage and configuration checked properly, so we fix the cause rather than swapping parts until it goes away.

Fix, report & recommend

Repaired on the day where parts allow. You get a written fault report with photos and clear recommendations — no upsell.

Proof, not promises

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us on 0433 633 777 — you'll speak to a technician, not a call centre.

Why will my door not lock or unlock?

In order of likelihood: a failed power supply or backup battery, a mag lock or strike that has worn or lost alignment, a door closer that no longer pulls the door shut, a failed door contact, or a controller output that has stopped. We test each in turn rather than replacing the lock first.

Cards and fobs have stopped working — what causes it?

Usually a reader that has dropped off the controller bus, a credential format that changed after a software update, an expired user schedule, or a controller that has lost its database. Most are fixed in a single visit without re-issuing cards.

Do you have Integriti and Inception technicians?

Yes. Inner Range Integriti and Inception are the platforms we work on most — controller faults, expander and reader issues, programming changes and recovering systems where nobody has the login. See Inner Range Integriti and Inception.

Can you repair Tecom access control?

Yes. We service Tecom Challenger sites and can advise on a staged migration path when parts become hard to source, so you are not forced into replacing everything at once.

The previous installer has gone and we cannot add users.

Very common. On most platforms we can recover administrative access through the manufacturer process, then hand the credentials and documentation to you. Occasionally a controller needs a default and reprogram, which we quote first.

Is a door that will not lock a fire safety issue?

It can be, in both directions — a door that fails locked can block an exit path. Doors on egress paths must release correctly on fire trip and power loss. We check fail-safe and fail-secure behaviour on every access control repair.
