Answers
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us on 0433 633 777 — you'll speak to a technician, not a call centre.
What does access control cost per door?
A single door with a reader, electric strike or mag lock, REX button and controller typically lands between $1,600 and $3,200 installed, depending on door type, fire compliance requirements and cable run. Doors get materially cheaper after the first because the controller and software are already there.
Cards, fobs, mobile or biometrics — which is right?
Fobs suit most sites: cheap, robust, easy to void when lost. Cards work well where you also want photo ID. Mobile credentials shine for staff who forget things and for contractors given temporary access. Biometrics suit high-security rooms — server rooms, cash offices, pharmacies — where you must prove it was a specific person.
Can access control work with our existing doors?
Almost always. Most commercial doors accept an electric strike, mag lock or motorised lock without replacement. Fire and exit doors have compliance requirements around fail-safe operation and free egress, which we design around — that is the part cheap installs get wrong.
Will it integrate with our alarm and cameras?
Yes, and it should. On Inner Range Integriti and Inception a valid card can disarm the alarm for that area, an access event can call up the nearest camera, and everything lands in one audit trail. See Integriti and Inception.
What happens in a power failure?
Systems are designed with battery backup, and lock hardware is chosen as fail-safe or fail-secure per door according to fire regulations and your risk. Exit paths must always allow free egress. We document this per door so building surveyors and fire compliance auditors can verify it.
Can I give a contractor access for one day?
Yes. Time-limited credentials, schedules restricting access to particular days or hours, and mobile credentials that expire automatically are all standard. You get a record of exactly when they entered and left.
Can it control gates, boom barriers and lifts?
Yes. We install electro-mechanical and digital access control for doors, gates and barriers, plus lift floor control and car park access — common in apartment buildings and secure office towers.
How hard is the software to manage?
Adding or removing a user takes under a minute in a browser. We set up the door groups, access levels and schedules during commissioning and train whoever will administer it, so you are not calling us to void a lost fob.
