Multi-tenant

Apartment work is its own discipline

A multi-unit intercom is not a bigger version of a house system. Riser cabling, per-unit handsets, call routing, directory management, tenant changeovers and common-area access all have to work together — and every decision has to pass a committee.

We work regularly with apartment complexes, strata groups, builder groups and Melbourne Building Management. Knowing how these projects actually get approved is worth as much as knowing how to terminate the cable.

  • Riser assessment firstWe test existing cabling before quoting, so retrofit options are real.
  • Committee-ready quotesWritten so a non-technical committee can compare them properly.
  • Staged installationWork sequenced so residents are never without entry access.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us on 0433 633 777 — you'll speak to a technician, not a call centre.

Can you replace our intercom without rewiring the building?

Often, yes. Several modern systems run over existing two-wire riser cabling, which removes the most expensive and disruptive part of an apartment upgrade. We inspect the risers and test the existing cabling before quoting so the answer is based on your building, not a general rule.

How much does an apartment intercom system cost?

Pricing is driven by unit count, number of entries and whether risers can be reused. As a rough guide, expect $600 to $1,200 per apartment for a full video system including the internal monitor, with door stations and head-end equipment on top. Larger buildings cost less per unit.

Can residents answer the intercom on their phones?

Yes on IP systems. Residents see and speak to visitors and release the door from anywhere — particularly useful for buildings where people work irregular hours or are frequently away.

How do you handle owners corporation approvals?

We write quotes a committee can read, allow for decision-making cycles, and document variations with photos by email for approval. Reduced delays because we understand the etiquette and process of how decisions get made with OCs and body corporates is genuinely one of the reasons buildings keep using us.

What happens when a resident moves out?

Credentials are voided in the management software in under a minute and reissued to the new resident. On systems with directory displays, the name is updated centrally rather than requiring a site visit and a new engraved panel.

Can the intercom control the car park and lifts too?

Yes. We integrate intercom with access control for basement gates, pedestrian doors, bin rooms and lift floor restriction, so a single credential works across the building and every entry is logged.

Which brands suit apartment buildings?

We specialise in AIPHONE, Comelit, Akuvox and Hikvision for multi-tenant work. Selection depends on unit count, riser type, whether you need mobile answering and how the building wants to manage residents.

Do you install common-area CCTV as well?

Yes — lobby, lift, car park, bin room and perimeter coverage with privacy-aware placement and retention policies suited to residential buildings. See CCTV installation.
