Why monitor
Round-the-clock protection with a real response
A monitored alarm system does not just sound an alert — it instantly notifies a professional monitoring centre. Whether it is a break-in, fire or another emergency, help is dispatched right away.
Commercial and industrial properties hold stock, equipment and data that daily operations depend on. Monitoring minimises losses, downtime and disruption — and gives you a documented event trail after the fact.

Melbourne alarm monitoring
Why businesses choose Nootz for monitoring
Most monitoring is sold as a commodity — a line item bundled into a five-year contract with an alarm you did not choose. We treat it as a service that either works on the night or does not.
That starts with the installation. A monitored alarm is only as good as its sensor placement, zoning and signalling path, which is why we assess the alarm system itself before quoting monitoring. It continues with maintenance: signalling paths, batteries and detectors are tested on schedule under a preventative maintenance plan so the first time you find out something failed is not during a break-in.
Monitoring across metropolitan Melbourne
We monitor sites from the south-east through to the eastern suburbs and beyond — including Dandenong, the Melbourne CBD, Frankston, Clayton and Narre Warren. Because monitoring is signalled over IP and cellular, distance is irrelevant to response time — but having a local technician who can attend the site the next morning is not.

Answers
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us on 0433 633 777 — you'll speak to a technician, not a call centre.
What actually happens when my alarm triggers?
The panel signals the control room within seconds over IP and cellular paths. An operator verifies against your response plan — usually a phone call to your key contacts in order — and dispatches patrol or police according to the grading you have set. Every step is time-stamped and logged, which is what an insurer wants to see.
How much does alarm monitoring cost?
Most commercial plans sit between $35 and $70 per month depending on signalling path, response grading and whether you add patrol response. Fire and duress signalling and open-close reporting are usually small additions. We quote it plainly with no activation trickery.
Am I locked into a long contract?
No. We do not do five-year lock-ins. Monitoring is offered on sensible terms and if you are unhappy you can leave. It is a poor business model to keep customers with paperwork instead of service.
Can you monitor an alarm another company installed?
Usually. If the panel supports a modern IP or cellular communicator we can generally take over monitoring after a compatibility check and a communicator upgrade if required. Bring us the make and model and we will tell you straight away.
What is guard patrol response?
Instead of relying on police attendance, a licensed patrol vehicle is dispatched to your site, checks the perimeter and entry points, reports what they find and secures the premises if it is safe to do so. For sites with valuable stock or repeat incidents it is worth the small monthly addition.
Can monitoring cover fire and medical as well as intrusion?
Yes. Monitored systems can integrate smoke and heat detection, duress and panic buttons, and plant or temperature alarms — useful for cool rooms and server rooms. The control room treats each signal type with its own response plan.
What happens if the internet or power goes down?
Properly specified monitoring uses dual-path signalling — IP with cellular backup — plus battery backup on the panel. If one path drops, the control room is alerted to the loss of communication rather than assuming everything is fine, which is a critical difference from cheap setups.
Do I get reports on who armed and disarmed the site?
Yes — open and close reporting shows which user code armed or disarmed and when, and can alert you if the site is not armed by a set time. It is one of the most useful features for businesses with staff or cleaners after hours.
